Three nights ago, a 19 year old Eritrean young woman called Samrawit was killed on the motorway in Calais in a hit and run incident as she was trying to reach her brother in London. The volunteers who knew her at the ‘unofficial’ Women’s and Children’s centre the Jungle Calais described her as ‘a sweet gentle girl’ and we are all mourning her passing.
Our volunteers have been liaising closely with the Eritrean community, her family and Medicins du Monde in order to provide as much support as possible and to allow her body to be repatriated.
For that to happen, and in order for her grieving family to be with her one last time, €6000 is urgently needed. Please click here to help: https://www.youcaring.com/samrawit-s-family-601759
Let us mark Samrawit’s tragic and unnecessary death by showing generosity and allowing her family to mourn.

We would not be able to do our work without your support and kindness. Many of the refugees we help are fleeing the conflict zones of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Others are trying to escape political oppression in countries like Eritrea. All are human beings like us. As well as providing immediate physical assistance, we want to help refugees maintain their dignity.
