Earlier today, LBC talked to Philli and Lliana about the imminent bulldozing of the southern part of the Calais refugee camp. Help Refugees’ Calais manager Philli Boyle was interviewed at the Women and Children’s Centre in Calais, while Help Refugees co-founder Lliana Bird was in the LBC studios. Philli talked about the amazing work done by the Women and Children’s Centre – one of several crucial services that will be lost when the eviction and bulldozing goes ahead.
Over 400 women and more than 500 children use the centres and facilities we support in the Calais camp. These are set to be bulldozed, without an adequate replacement.

We would not be able to do our work without your support and kindness. Many of the refugees we help are fleeing the conflict zones of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Others are trying to escape political oppression in countries like Eritrea. All are human beings like us. As well as providing immediate physical assistance, we want to help refugees maintain their dignity.
