Milk, football and common ground in Greece

In Alexandria refugee camp in Greece, Help Refugees have been supporting Refugee Support Greece to provide 1.5 litres of milk per person a week in their free shop in the camp. With 264 children in the camp, the additional milk has boosted nutritional levels and has also become a vital supplement over Ramadan.

Energy levels in the camp are at an all time high, which came in handy this week when a London professional football training academy and local Greek volunteers organised a two day tournament between refugees living in Alexandria and local teams. Not only did the event boost morale but it has also improved local relations, we love seeing the Syrian and Greek teams standing united.

We would not be able to do our work without your support and kindness. Many of the refugees we help are fleeing the conflict zones of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Others are trying to escape political oppression in countries like Eritrea. All are human beings like us. As well as providing immediate physical assistance, we want to help refugees maintain their dignity.
